When Planet Sub came on as our client in 2014 with a recently-revamped brand, they needed a website and social media presence to match their modern identity.
Affectionately termed PSUB, the sandwich franchise started as Yello Sub in Lawrence, KS before expanding to the Kansas City metro area. Unlike other sub shops, Planet Sub is committed to providing the freshest ingredients, including from-scratch bread that’s baked in-house.
As a midwest mainstay, Planet Sub had an instant place in our hearts (and our stomachs) — and we were committed to instilling that PSUB love in other cities. The franchisor needed a partner to help propel franchise growth, both by attracting more franchisees and helping current franchisees develop a strong local foundation.

How We Got There
A New, Sleek Site
Our favorite sub shop was rocking an outdated website, both in design and functionality. It was time to bring PSUB’s new branding to their corner of the internet.
Our web design & development team produced a modern, image-rich site featuring a hamburger menu with branded icons and cheeky content to match. Users can easily find their nearest location, browse the menu, and even learn more about franchising with PSUB. Multisite installation allows Planet Sub’s locations to have their own sites as the franchisor sees fit.
We traveled to a new buildout in Denver, CO to take photos of the food (a must for any restaurant’s marketing) and the unique PSUB atmosphere. The photos– now featured on the website, social media campaigns, and other marketing materials — capture all the best attributes Planet Sub offers: freshness, authenticity, sustainability, and originality.
Driving Local Engagement
Our work for Planet Sub goes beyond furthering brand exposure on a national scale. We also deploy strategies to develop a strong local presence for franchisees. Name recognition is great, but foot traffic is crucial for franchisee success.
We help put locations on the map (literally) with our restaurant listings service, providing a strong local foundation and ensuring franchisees are easily found when consumers search.
Analytics & Event Tracking
With Planet Sub’s goal of nationwide growth, they needed a way to easily gauge interest in franchising. While form fill conversions are an obvious option, they wanted a more sophisticated method.
After launching the franchising section of their website, we set up multiple intelligence events and conversion goals in Google Analytics to determine when users exited the page. This allows for adjustment to page structure and content based on user flow.
Branded Social Media Content
Following their rebrand, Planet Sub needed social media content that resonated with their new image and voice.
Using our own photographs as well as assets provided by Planet Sub, we created a number of graphics, GIFs, and short videos for organic and paid social media posts.
We currently run Planet Sub’s corporate Facebook page as well as a number of franchisee pages.
